ow

So, if I had a heart attack and died one could literally say that I died of a broken heart.

Back

I was supposed to be there from Tuesday to Thursday. I ended up being there Friday as well. There was this part that didn't get there. We couldn't do our thing without it. And the shipping company promised it Wednesday at 10am. It doesn't come until Friday 9am. What the heck is that???

I spent 2 days lounging around looking like a bump in the log. Folx making comments like "Man, I wish I had your job."

At least, Thursday, I got 2 hours of pool time. Just frying by a pool. And lots of expensed meals. Whee!!!

Worried because this is a new account. I hope we can live up to the hype that the salesman has set up. I guess alls I can do is my best.

Levels of field support proficiency

From a training session today:

Level 0 - You don't know you don't know anything.

A very dangerous level. You get sent out into the field and you mess things up because you think you know what you're doing but you don't. And you're just trying anything without even understanding what's involved.

Level 1 - You know you don't know anything.

It's less dangerous. You're placed in a situation where you realize you don't know anything. Which is good because you can now begin asking for help. Now, if only you knew what to ask for.

Level 2a - You have instructions.

This is better but you will inevitable be screwed if things go off track.

Level 2b - You have training(theory).

You've seen it done, but maybe your trainer assumed you knew something you didn't. So, you get to the field and you realize that there's a lot more to it than you thought.

Level 3 - You've done it at the lab.

This is a good place to be. There's nothing like hands on experience to give you an understanding of how things work and how to put things together. Unfortunately, the field will not be as forgiving as the lab.

Level 4 - You've done it in the field.

This is the best and final level. It takes people maybe an entire year to get to the point where you are confident that you can handle the job on site. When you get here, everyone is happy because you're the guy they call to get stuff fixed.

Chili

I made chili. A big batch of it. I used the microwave recipe on the package. This resulted in a huge mass of spicy meaty stuff. It is good as foods go. You can't go wrong with spice and meat.

But as chilis go, it was rather mediochre and tasteless. But I ate it mostly with tortilla chips.

I'm full of meat and happy.

Took my infant courses at the hospital over the weekend. On Saturday, I took the Infant Care and Feeding classes. Learned all about baths and diapers and bottles and stuff. And a whole lot about breast feeding for whatever that's worth. Sunday was the Infant CPR class. That was cool. I can do CPR on babies. And can handle poisonings and chokings too. It was old hat for me since I was a Boy Scout and I had CPR and first aid training from then. I had taken infant CPR before for a baby sitting class I took when I was 16.

ahhhh, meat.

BANZAI!

Okay, so it's racist and makes fun of amputees, midgets, and old people.

teeth

my teeth hurt. But not in a "ow I can't eat" way just a sort of dull ache all over the mouth way. It makes lots of spit. And I just brushed my teeth again.

I'm sorta between insurances with my new job and all. I think I can wait until September when my new insurance kicks in.

This blogging thing is gonna suck if that's all I can think to write about.

My new job rocks. that's all I'm gonna say about that. The company is small but it's getting bigger and our product is maturing. We're selling stuff and getting more new clients all the time.

This month is hectic. We've got a bunch of fun new toys for testing and a bunch of installs to do.

my little bro is hooked on the new megaman gamecube game which is based on the Japanese anime Rockman.exe which I liked a lot.

You can see the english version "Megaman NT Warrior" on Saturday mornings on Fox.
