First post in a long while. For New Year's Eve, this year I decided to do the 4 mile Emerald Nuts Fun Run. I did not train at all. In fact, The last run I did was a couple miles on October 14th.
So, my plan was to spend the first mile at an easy pace then ramp up each mile after that. I had run this course before for the Japan Day Run last June. I did it in 1:06.
So, my plan worked. I came in at 57 minutes. 9 minute faster and no training.
Keep in mind, I knew the course better. That last mile was mostly downhill. And man, I was wheezing up a storm and I had an enormously painful stitch in my ribs.
Two days later, I'm still achy. But, it was a great way to start the New Year. This year will have more and more running.
